RDG Celebrates Economic Development Week 2019!

Happy fourth annual Economic Development Week!

Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in 2016 to bring awareness to the industry and its critical role in the success of communities large and small. RDG has the privilege of engaging with many of these organizations throughout the country and we see first hand the work being done to educate their communities on what they’re doing to create jobs, bring growth to their regions, and improve their quality of life.

To celebrate this week, we want to share a few different sources of great economic development content from around the internet that we think you’ll enjoy too:

Kenny McDonald at Columbus 2020 writes a weekly blog that’s short and to the point, yet thought provoking.

Whether on their main website or on one of their twitter feeds,  Brookings consistently puts out educational articles about issues such as wage growth and talent development that add valuable information and viewpoints to the national conversation about such important topics in economic development.

DCI’s 40 under 40 awards program is a biennial awards program that recognizes up and coming professionals in the economic development industry. You can read about each award winner for 2019 at the above link to learn more about who they are.

4 – IEDC’s Resources of course!

IEDC continues to be such an important resource for economic developers everywhere and produce important content that aids communities around the country in being able to do what they do. The graphic below is a great example:

As always, RDG salutes the economic development professionals we get to work with each and every week who are working hard to build their communities. Like last year, we challenge you to continue to raise awareness in your own community about what your local EDO does and why it plays such an important role in the day to day success of the city, county, region or state.
